You do not need an expert to tell you if your website has a problem. You need five minutes and an honest eye. Here is a test that will tell you more about your website’s commercial performance than most reports.

Minute 1: Load your website on your phone on mobile data

Not on WiFi. On 4G or 5G, as your customers actually visit it. If it takes more than three seconds to load, you are losing a significant portion of your mobile traffic before they see a single word. Note this.

Minute 2: Read only your homepage headline and subheadline

Ignore the rest of the page. Just the headline and the line below it. Does it clearly tell a stranger what your business does and who it is for? Or does it say something vague like ‘Excellence in Service’ or ‘Your Trusted Partner’? If a stranger cannot understand your business from those two lines, your homepage is not working.

Minute 3: Try to contact you without scrolling to the bottom

Can you find a phone number, a WhatsApp link, or an enquiry form in the top half of the page? If not, you are making your customers work to give you their business.

Minute 4: Search your main service on Google from Chennai

Type the service you most want enquiries for, followed by ‘Chennai’, into Google. Does your website appear on the first page? If it does not, you are invisible to the customers who are actively looking for you right now.

Minute 5: Read your most important service page

Does it answer: what is included, how much it costs (at least a range), what the process looks like, and what past clients say about it? If it does not answer at least three of those four questions, it is not giving a potential customer the confidence to enquire.

What to do with the results

If you identified more than two problems in this five-minute test, your website has fixable issues that are costing you real enquiries. Each problem is not difficult to solve. But left unaddressed, each one is a reason a potential customer chose your competitor instead of you.
